Fee Turner and Lee Coleman are both farmers. Fee, who grew up in a farming family in regional New Zealand, owns a vineyard in Tasmania. Lee, a fourth generation farmer, is facing unprecedented drought conditions on his mixed farm in Northern New South Wales.
Lee and Fee are also founders of agtech startups, Bitwise Agronomy and FarmSimple. They, along with six other farmer-led businesses, have been selected into the Farmers2Founders Bootcamp program, an intensive 3 month accelerator that is helping them take their business to the next level.
In this episode, Fee and Lee tell us about their farms, startups, and the challenges they're facing as they juggle being both farmers and founders. They answer questions like:
What kind of advantage does being a farmer give you as an agtech founder?
Do farmer-led businesses face the same challenges as other agtech startups?
What can accelerator programs like Farmers2Founders help with?
What’s the hardest part of starting a startup?
