About Tenacious Ventures Group
At Tenacious Ventures Group, our mission is to unlock climate impact at scale in agri-food systems.
We know that transforming the global food system requires more than just one kind of capital — and more than just one kind of company. That’s why we’ve deliberately built Tenacious as a multi-entity platform:
- Tenacious Ventures Capital: managing over $50M (and growing) across two early-stage VC funds focused on agri-food tech startups that are strategic to Australia. We’ve backed leading companies like SwarmFarm Robotics, Goterra, and Regrow.
- Tenacious Insights: delivering strategic advisory/consulting work for corporates, government, and industry globally.
- Tenacious Ventures Group: our shared-services backbone, enabling scalable, high-leverage operations across all parts of the business.
This structure lets us operate at the intersection of capital, innovation and adoption, and systems change, giving us the agility to support diverse founders, launch new financial tools, unlock adoption models, and scale impact — without scaling complexity.
We’re active contributors to the ecosystem — from helping found evokeAG and AusAgritech, to releasing 200+ podcast episodes and sharing insights with 20k+ people globally each month. Our platform gives us a unique view across capital, innovation, and adoption — and lets us turn ideas into real-world impact.
We’ve built Tenacious for the long game. We're here to back bold founders, catalyze systemic change, and accelerate the transition to a resilient, regenerative agri-food future.
About You – Principal, Tenacious Ventures Capital
We're looking for an Investment Principal to join our investment team and play a key role in sourcing, evaluating, and championing early-stage agri-food tech startups. This is a partner track role.
While the core focus is venture capital, this role is designed for someone who sees VC as a powerful tool within a broader system, and who is energized by the opportunity to build with us: to improve what exists and help invent what’s next.
This is not a typical VC role — and that’s intentional. We’re a small, ambitious team with a high bar for both execution and impact, working in a complex space. Your work will be varied, fast-paced, and deeply rewarding for someone who thrives in entrepreneurial, high-autonomy, high-responsibility environments.
What You’ll Be Doing (Near-Term Focus)
You’ll work across the full investment lifecycle — from sourcing to thesis development and investment — with room to shape the role around your strengths and growth areas. We move quickly, think deeply, and iterate often — and you’ll be at the center of that.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Opportunity Sourcing
- Own our inbound deal flow, and cultivate high-quality relationships across the startup and investor ecosystem.
- Design and run experiments to improve how we discover, attract, and engage with startups — including events, partnerships, and content Then build playbooks to scale what works.
Due Diligence & Investment Process
- Own and drive specific diligence workstreams across commercial, technical, and strategic dimensions, to support our overall investment process
- Run screening calls, review decks, conduct customer and market research
- Support investment decision-making by developing investment materials (memos, returns modeling, etc.) and collaborating with advisors and technical experts
Ecosystem & Brand Building
- Represent Tenacious at industry events across ANZ.
- Lead local engagement efforts (e.g., Meetups, roundtables).
- Build relationships with startups, co-investors, accelerators, trade orgs, and government stakeholders.
Thesis & Systems Development
- Conduct deep dives into emerging markets, technologies, and themes aligned with our investment thesis.
- Create internal- and external-facing content that synthesizes insights and attracts like-minded collaborators.
- Contribute to the development of tools, templates, and systems that help us operate with leverage and scale.
What We’re Looking For
We’re not looking for a specific resume — we’re looking for a super sharp, curious, mission-driven operator who gets energy from making things better and moving them forward.
You might have run your own company, or worked in finance, science, or somewhere else entirely. What matters most is your ability to:
- Think clearly and write well – distill complexity, communicate concisely, and adapt to different audiences.
- Apply business acumen through systems thinking – understand how businesses create and capture value, how parts interact, and where strategic levers drive growth, impact, and returns.
- Own and improve systems – have a very high degree of digital literacy, spot inefficiencies, design better workflows, and leverage AI and digital tools to improve scale and
- Engage with people – from startup founders and co-investors to policy makers and farmers, you’ll need to build trust, ask great questions, and communicate ideas with empathy and clarity.
- Stay focused, yet adaptable – you’re energized by variety but can go deep when needed, with a bias for action and results – no job is too small!
